Giles & Ransome, Inc. was founded in 1916 by Arthur Giles and Percy Ransome, Sr. Initially, the company primarily sold concrete mixers and it was not until 1932 that Giles & Ransome decided to become one of the world’s first equipment dealers for the Caterpillar Tractor Co. Unfortunately, in 1928, Arthur Giles passed away and the Ransome family purchased his shares. However, the Giles name was retained out of respect for all of his hard work and contributions.

Throughout the years, Ransome Cat has continuously grown and is now a full-line Caterpillar dealer serving eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and northern Delaware. Giles & Ransome, which remains the corporate name, is our construction sales & service division.

“G&R” serves the construction industry with the full Caterpillar construction equipment product line, which includes a complete line of compact construction products and work tools. Ransome Engine is a Caterpillar Power Systems Distributor (PSD) and represents Caterpillar’s entire engine (truck, marine, electric power generation and generator rental) product offerings. Ransome Rents, our Rental Services Division, provides a complete line of rental service products for short-term rental needs and offers a wide variety of contractor supplies and safety equipment for the construction industry.

Ransome Cat and its divisions currently operate out of 13 convenient locations and employ over 600 people. Our significant investment in our employees, facilities and product support capabilities, combined with the world-class manufacturing and support of Caterpillar, allows us to provide unsurpassed service and programs to our customers.
