The LiRo Group provides integrated design, technology and construction solutions for a broad range of public and private sector clients.

Our continued growth has created an immediate need for a Senior Water Resources Engineer for our Mineola, LI Office. This candidate must have extensive knowledge of current water issues and emerging contaminants such as 1,4-Dioxane and adept in water treatment technologies including Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) and Ultraviolet (UV) Disinfection Process. It would require working on various water projects including, but not limited to municipal water master planning, hydraulic systems, pumps and pipe design, cost estimation, project scheduling, planning and feasibility.



  • Lead technical teams to plan and design water supply, distribution, treatment projects for municipal projects

  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations and studies and design using simulation software including developing drawings and visual aids

  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard engineering principles techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks

  • Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities

  • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives

  • Attend client development activities and functions

  • Serve as technical client adviser and provide guidance and recommendation to system-wide infrastructure


  • M.S. and/or BS in Civil, Environmental, Water Resources Engineering or related field

  • 15+ years of progressive experience serving clients in NYC, Long Island, NJ, large municipalities, or authorities in same capacity

  • Educational and professional emphasis on hydraulic systems, water treatment, wastewater treatment or similar fields

  • Knowledge and experience with AOP and UV Disinfection

  • Master planning for water distribution and treatment systems

  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations and requirements

  • Knowledge of standard software including (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, hydraulic analysis, process modeling)

  • Technical experience related to water process engineering or hydraulic analysis – WaterCAD, WaterGEMS, H2OMap, H2O Next, EPANet, Infowater

  • Ability to make sound engineering judgement with generally accepted engineering standards and practices

  • Active involvement in ACEC, AWWA, ASCE, LIWC, NYWEA, or WEF

  • Ability to interact and adapt to client needs

  • Handle multiple assignments and be flexible to meet stringent deadline

  • Experience in managing staff, cross collaboration and coordination with other engineering disciplines

  • Ability to work in team environment and result driven

  • Passion and enthusiasm in promoting sustainability

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NYS PE License

  • Board Certified Environmental Engineer (BCEE)

  • Diplomat of Water Resources Engineering (D.WRE)

  • LEED certified

  • ENV SP certified
