Work Location: Naval Base Ventura County, Port Mugu, CA
Functional Title: Engineering Tech III SE Technician
Roles & Responsibilities: Full time position
Provide Aerial Target O&M Support to Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons, Pacific Target and Marine Operations Division. Should have knowledge of Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) and Naval Ordnance Management Policy (NOMP). Ability to rapidly learn AQM-37, BQM-34 and BQM-74 target procedures. Ability to interpret technical manuals.
Skills in reading engineering drawings and specifications & data collection which will include:
Understanding technical drawings, manufacturing instructions and process specification to perform PMS on launch support equipment
Develop In-depth knowledge of naval target maintenance practices to properly disassemble and reassemble several aerial target types
Technical writing skills to assist in documenting new manufacturing and/or assembling instructions for new designs developed in-house
Skill in providing in-service engineering support tasks for target activities which include:
Ability to independently plan & support efforts including timelines, possible cost estimates requiring parts and equipment, shipping & travel arrangements and coordination with the end user
Works in a technical capacity as a team member or team on frequent trips to field activities & vendors.
Conditions will vary. Most work accomplished in enclosed buildings. They will include 35% standing, 35% walking, 20% sitting, 5% reaching, and 5% lifting. The employee must be capable of lifting 50-100 pounds assisted by other employees.
Travel required on a routine basis but work location will normally be NAWCWD Point Mugu or China Lake. Occasional overtime required
High School Diploma or equivalent.
2-3 years experience highly desired (Experience in a military environment or on a military facility preferred). Experience can be in electrical or mechanical or aircraft engines
Strong basic engineering/mechanical background.
U S Citizenship required.
Must obtain an U.S. DoD Security Interim Clearance prior to hire date, final clearance must be granted and clearance must be maintained throughout employment.
Must pass pre-employment physical to include: Physical, Drug Screen, Vision & Hearing testing, Medical Condition Certification and back x-ray.
All candidates will be required to pass a consumer report and/or consumer investigation to include SSN, Driver Record and Criminal Background Investigation.
